DECISION 2013: District 6 Candidate Roberts Says She Brings Unique Experience to Commission
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Adah Roberts, a candidate for Macon-Bibb County Commission District 6, says she’s got a unique background that will fit in well on the new county commission.
“I reported both to the mayor and all 15 council members… I worked well with them, I got to know them. I know a lot about the city… Very few can come with the kind of experience that I’ve had,” said Roberts.
Roberts, a former director of finance for the city of Macon, believes that experience will give her the edge on commission.
Her biggest concern, if elected, is properly representing the people.
“I want to make sure… I maintain my integrity and not be swayed by politics. I’m not a political person, and I don’t want to play political games,” said Roberts.
She thinks the budget demands put on the new commission are entirely attainable, but Roberts isn’t in favor of tax hikes.
She says the government needs to find ways to bring in money from the outside to make up for the budget reduction over four years.
“Not raising taxes… we want to make sure that there are some other alternatives to raising taxes,” said Roberts.
Roberts is a licensed CPA who worked for the city of Macon for seven years. She began as the accountant for the Workforce Development Office, and ended her career in the city as the director of finance.
