Deadly shooting at Teotihuacan pyramids leaves tourist dead, several injured
A terrifying scene unfolded at one of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations as gunfire erupted near the Teotihuacan pyramids.

(NBC)- Witnesses described chaos as shots rang out and visitors scrambled for safety—some even jumping from the ancient structures to escape.
Video from the scene shows people running in panic while a man, believed to be the shooter, was seen pacing atop one of the pyramids holding what appeared to be a firearm. Authorities say the suspect fired multiple rounds, killing a Canadian woman and injuring six others before turning the gun on himself. Investigators recovered a firearm, a bladed weapon and additional ammunition at the scene. Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the attack, saying it “deeply pains us” and vowing a full investigation.
Officials say the historic site—visited by more than a million people each year—is now secure following the deadly incident.
