David Ragan Barely Misses NASCAR Chase With Fourth At Richmond

David-RaganRICHMOND, VA – Unadilla’s David Ragan had one shot to get into the 2011 Chase for the NASCAR Championship. He had to win at Richmond International Raceway, the final race to set the Chase field.

But despite having one of the fastest cars on the track on long runs, the UPS team fell short of its goal, managing a fourth place finish in the race which was marred with a record number of cautions.

He spent the majority of the race in the top 10 and then made his way to the top 5 late in the race. Ragan took the final restart fifth and gained a spot in the closing laps to finish fourth.

“Our UPS team did a great job tonight,” said Ragan. “We want to win every time we come to the race track, but certainly a top five is a great run for our team. We gained some points back from our previous bad luck and we’ll move on.”
