Daughter Of Bulgarian Mobster Abducted By Gunmen

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) – Three masked gunman have kidnapped the 12-year-old daughter of a Bulgarian mobster in front of his house in a Sofia suburb.

Police said that the kidnappers opened fire on the car and wounded the driver before abducting the daughter of Evelin Banev, who was sentenced last month by a court in Sofia to seven and a half years in prison on charges of heading an organized crime gang and money laundering. The driver has been taken to hospital.

Banev, 48, is detained in Italy where he is to stand trial for allegedly trafficking cocaine from Latin America to Europe between 2004 and 2007.
