Danville City Councilman Commits Suicide

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Danville city councilman is dead after shooting himself in the head.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, 42-year-old Jack Scarborough shot himself in the head Tuesday night at Macon Behavioral Health Systems off Riverside Drive. Jones says his wife worked there and he was not a patient.

Scarborough was a Macon-Bibb County firefighter before working in local government.

Jones ruled the death as a suicide.

A graveside service will be held at New Providence Baptist Church off Highway 96 outside Jeffersonville on Saturday at 11 am.
