DA Gets Rid of Death Penalty in Peach Co. Murder Trial

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — District Attorney David Cooke says he will not seek the death penalty against a woman accused of brutally stabbing 2 people in Fort Valley in 2009.

Lillian Walker is charged with killing her aunt and cousin at their home on Daniel Drive. Cooke says withdrawing the death penalty will allow a trial date to be set for later this year instead of at a later time.

He expects the case to wrap up by October.
