Miller takes Culloden mayor’s race, 53-32
CULLODEN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -The Culloden mayoral race came down to just a few votes as expected, 53-32 in favor of Lynn Miller.
Miller beat out incumbent Melvin James.
“Culloden is a small town,” said voter Faye Eller.
There’s not a ton of registered voters in Culloden.
“It’s been a good, thriving community,” said Eller.
But that doesn’t mean there’s no passion for politics.
“With God’s help I hope we get the right candidate in,” said Eller.
94 voters were all tied up 47-47 in the last mayoral election in November–an election Faye Eller voted in.
“Everyone in this city should vote because there are so few of us, so every vote counts,” said Eller.
They counted again for the runoff election Tuesday.
“Because we are in a runoff now, every vote matters,” said mayoral candidate Lynn Miller. “People really need to participate in this, we need it to make a difference.”
Miller says her goal is to have more transparency in government.
“Get records organized in a–even put on a computer system where do have access to it,” said Miller. “At this point we’re randomly pulling.”
Current Mayor Melvin James agrees.
“The bookkeeping is off,” said James. “Nothing on the computer–it’s all handwritten. We have a problem with that. We have grant money coming in, and no one seems to know where it’s at.”
Problems voters are looking at with a big passion, in a small town.
