Crews from Macon-Bibb, Georgia Power and Cox busy restoring services after Helene barreled through Middle Georgia

The gates at Amerson Park are closed because of expected flooding with the Ocmulgee River.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  The impacts of the storm spread across Bibb County.  Hundreds of businesses and residents in Macon woke up to no power Friday morning.

As soon as the danger of Helene passed, crews from Macon-Bibb County and Georgia Power were sent out to handle storm damage.
And, I went around the County to get a look at the scope of what happened overnight.
Here, on North Lamar Road, trees fell on power lines causing the electricity to be knocked out and roads to be blocked.
On, the 1400 Block of Bass Road, Cox was out restoring cable for the customers who lost their connection.
On Bass and Forsyth Road, a crew from Georgia Power was busy untangling tree branches from power lines.
Spokesperson for Macon-Bibb County Chris Floore said, things could’ve been a lot worst, and we missed a big one.
As, crews are busy with clean up, at Amerson Park.
The gates are closed, because of expected flooding with the Ocmulgee River.
The National Weather said, it could rise to it’s highest level in decades.
