Court Date Set for Federal Case Against Councilman John Williams
Today, Warner Robins City Councilman John Williams makes another appearance in Federal Court.
He made a plea to Judge Charles Weigle for a court appointed attorney. Williams says losing the election on Tuesday will cost him thousands of dollars in income, which he says will put him at a disadvantage when he tries to prove his innocence.
Williams was indicted by a federal grand jury a month ago on charges of extortion, making false statements to the FBI, and tampering with a witness.
These allegations came after an investigation revealed Williams received a payment of $1,720 from a vehicle sale to the Warner Robins Police Department.
