Coroner: Bibb County man identified after fatal work-related accident in Monroe County, investigation underway

According to Monroe County Coroner Joey Proctor, the man has been identified as 49-year-old Leon Simmons Junior.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County man is dead after a work-related accident in Monroe County on Thursday afternoon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Monroe County Coroner Joey Proctor, the man has been identified as 49-year-old Leon Simmons Junior.

Deputies were dispatched at 12 p.m. to Southern Forestry Industries Incorporated, located at 3794 Old Macon Road, in reference to a work-related accident.

Deputies say the accident did result in a fatality. Coroner Proctor says Simmons sustained a deadly head injury. The accident is still an active investigation.
