Cooler but seasonal temps start the week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – High pressure has begun to build across the ArkLaMiss stretching east into Georgia. We will get a real taste of Fall to kick off the work week with dry conditions and cool temperatures across North and Central Georgia. Temperatures in the 40s this morning will rise into the upper 60s to mid 70s by the afternoon. Northwest flow at the upper levels continues to ix drier and cooler air down to the surface. Because of this, our relative humidity values will range between 25-30 percent for this afternoon. Relative humidity trends will be monitored as fire weather may become a concern due to dry conditions. Temperatures will once again fall into the 40s tonight into Tuesday morning. High pressure and mid-level ridging will nudge eastward as another trough advances towards the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes region. Another low pressure system and cold front extending southward from the low will sweep across the Ohio and Tennessee Valley regions on Tuesday. Very little moisture will accompany this next system however, isolated light rain showers and gusty winds could be possible across parts of North Georgia on Tuesday. Any measurable accumulation is unlikely. As a result, fire weather will not be much of an issue on Tuesday. The next cold front will move through Georgia Tuesday night and set the area up for potential fire weather concerns during the second half of the workweek. A surface high builds in on Wednesday and as this occurs northwest winds will reduce lower relative humidity values. Gusts in the 15 to 25 mph range may accompany the lower humidity Wednesday afternoon. The surface high will settle into the state Thursday, keeping a dry airmass in place and humidity depressed. Some moisture increase is possible Friday as the surface high moves into the Atlantic however, it may not be enough to keep afternoon values in the 20 to 30 percent range in the afternoon. If we set the fire weather concerns aside, Wednesday through Friday should consist of pleasant Fall weather. Temperatures during the day will be mild with widespread highs in the 70s.
