Construction in Macon closes bridge, parts of Bass Road
Parts of Bass Road will be closed for at least the next six months beginning Tuesday.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Parts of Bass Road will be closed for at least the next six months beginning Tuesday.
The closure is happening due to the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge and the approaches over the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
The Georgia Department of Transportation, District 3 Communications Officer Gina Snider, says it’s being rebuilt because it’s old and needs to be replaced.
The Georgia Department of Transportation says residents who live in the closure zone can still access their homes but will have to do it from their side of the closure.
A detour will be in place directing traffic onto Rivoli Drive and Forsyth Road.
The project will shut down Bass Road from Rivoli Drive to Forsyth Road.
