Confirmed tornado in Peach County damages homes, buildings
Several homes on Lakeview Drive experienced damage from falling trees and strong winds.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The National Weather Service confirmed at least three tornadoes touched down across Middle Georgia on Thursday, leaving several homes damaged, trees down and injuries.
According to NWS, an EF-1 rated tornado formed shortly before 7 a.m. in Peach County before moving straight into Houston County. The tornado then traveled about three miles with peak winds of almost 100 miles per hour. The storm then traveled down south of Highway 96 near Lakeview Drive, where several trees were snapped.
Several homes on Lakeview Drive were damaged by fallen trees and strong winds. There was also damage to several metal buildings and homes.
Crews in Peach County are still actively working to get remaining debris cleared.
Tornadoes also touched down in Bibb (EF-1) and Macon County (EF-2), according to NWS. Two people were injured in the Macon County tornado, NWS said.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the City of Fort Valley said it was collecting donations for those affected by the tornado in Macon County. Those interested can drop off non-perishable items at Fire Station 1, located at 204 West Church Street in Fort Valley 24/7.
