Company In Perry Cleans Up After Murder, Meth and Mayhem
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If there were a top ten list of crazy, obscure jobs–there’s a company in Perry whose work would probably be at the top of that list. In fact, Xtreme Cleaners has been featured on national television just doing what they do: cleaning up after murders, meth labs and general mayhem.
“We’re one of those businesses that people don’t even realize exist,” says Branch Manager for Georgia’s Xtreme Cleaners Scott Griffin.
If you thought scrubbing toilets was intense…try scraping brain matter off the floor, or cutting blood out of a rocking chair while dressed in a hazmat suit in 90+ degree temperatures.
The Louisiana-based company has been featured on TLC’s “Ultimate Cleaners”…but the words ‘extreme’ and ‘ultimate’ are understatements. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it. They take care of everything: crime scenes, suicides, homicides, and the list goes on–breaking down meth labs, and cleaning up stains no one can see.
They have to have many trainings for the grueling work.
“I couldn’t imagine somebody in my family dying and having to clean that up by myself while I’m trying to grieve,” says Team Lead Ashlee Smith, who supervised as new employees tried their hand at cutting fake blood out of a rocking chair.
They clean up after disaster and offer a hand and a hug to those left behind. Smith says it takes an emotional toll…the worst scene she had to clean up was after a man shot his wife and baby at point blank range.
