Community Hosts Vigil to Spread Peace and End Violence

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Families who lost loved ones are came together Saturday night to remember all who have passed away.

Macon One, Hoodfessional Incorporated and FEEline INC. hosted “Hope on the Hill” at Coleman Hill Park. It was a community wide candlelight vigil and balloon release.

Many families who lost loved ones gathered and shared their stories. Organizers hope by coming together, they can share the message of peace and call on the community to end violence.

“We just get tired of hearing about all the murder and violent crimes going on,” Gerome Ryans, an organizer, said. “So instead of sitting around, we actually take action and do something to try to bring the community and the city together because that’s the only way we’ll make a change.”

Ryans says they hold these vigils several times a year. He believes they bring hope to the families who have lost so much.
