Community Helps Design Second Street Corridor
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Plans to revitalize the Second Street corridor are underway and the City of Macon wants your input.
Residents, business owners and local leaders are all pitching ideas on how to improve Second Street. The community drew out their own plans on how to improve this part of town, which included adding bike lanes, parks and green spaces. The multi-day design charrette gives everyone the chance to have a voice in revitalizing Second Street.
Jim Beall has lived in Macon his entire life and wants to see major improvements to this area of town.
“There’s a lot of inconsistency in design and look that I think if it was consistent it would make it much more attractive to businesses and residents to live,” Beall said.
The master plan and initial work on revitalizing Second Street will be paid for by the SPLOST tax voters approved last year.
Public meetings will be held over the next few days. For more information, click here.
