Collier Reinstated as Bibb County Schools CFO, Lawsuit Settled

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Bibb County Board of Education voted Wednesday night, to reinstate Ron Collier as the District’s Chief Financial Officer.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, board members agreed to pay Collier $100,000 to settle a lawsuit he filed against the Bibb County School District.

In December 2012, Collier sued the district after the former superintendent, Dr. Romain Dallemand, demoted him.

According to the lawsuit, it happened after Collier refused to write a $1 million check for a Macon Promise Neighborhood grant. When Collier questioned the invoice and didn’t get answers, the suit claims Dallemand threatened to fire him.

In Janauary, Collier’s attorneys added to the suit, claiming the District opted into leasing half of the old Ballard-Hudson Middle School, but the school board never approved it.

Mr. Collier and the District released the following joint statement:

“The Bibb County School District and Ron Collier have settled Mr. Collier’s suit against the Bibb County School District. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, the School District will reinstate Mr. Collier to his former position as the School District’s Chief Financial Officer and will pay Mr. Collier $100,000.00. In turn, Mr. Collier will dismiss the suit against the School District and will release the School District from any further liability.

Now that this matter has been resolved, the School District and Mr. Collier look forward to working together and providing the students of Bibb County with the best education possible. In order to do so, the School District and Mr. Collier believe that it is the best interest of all concerned for this matter to be put behind them. The School District and Mr. Collier have therefore agreed not to make any further comments about this matter.”
