College Hill Alliance wins Knight Cities Challenge
Knights Cities Challenge holds a contest for the best innovative ideas to promote cities across America. College Hill Alliance was won a $75,000 grant for its “Operation Export Macon” program.
The program is geared to attract talent, build economic opportunity and increase civic pride, says College Hill program coordinator Joshua Lovett.
“It’s a collection of all the great things going on in Macon,” says Lovett. “So, it really attempts to show the best of our people and our place. What that really means is our small businesses, make some of those great Macon made products? If you like Macon it’s a cool place to hang out.”
Lovette explained College Hill Alliance works to revitalize two square miles between Mercer University and downtown Macon.
The second Knight Cities Challenge winner from Macon was Geoffrey Boyd of Macon Civic Spaces. Boyd won a $125,000 grant.
