Colder temperatures start the new week in Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Cloudy conditions continue to hold temperatures steady in the mid to upper 60s. Total rain accumulation will mostly be less than 0.1 inches to about 0.25 inches is possible in the mountains or isolated locations.  Conditions cool and dry rapidly behind the front. Winds pick up out of the northwest bringing gusts over 30 mph through Monday evening. The combination of dry air, gusty winds and New Years celebrations will require extra care. Fire danger may become a concern as we get through the frontal system. The cold front will make a full pass through the coverage area on Tuesday, bringing much cooler and drier conditions. High temperatures generally in the 40s are expected on Tuesday, with the north Georgia mountains in the 30s. High temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will increase, but not without chilly mornings with low temperatures generally at or below freezing areawide.
