Colonel Sandra Bonney takes command of 461st Air Control Wing at Robins AFB
Bonney will oversee tactical command systems, combat operations, and communications at Robins AFB.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Robins Air Force Base has a new commander for its 461st Air Control Wing: Colonel Sandra Bonney officially took command during a change of leadership ceremony on Wednesday.
She will be responsible for leading ground-based tactical command, control weapon systems, combat airfield operations and leading the active-duty combat communications group.
She will also be responsible for the mobilization and deployment of multi-capable personnel, computers, radios, transport systems and deployable air traffic control.
Colonel Sandra Bonney says she is ready for all her duties, including leading ground-based tactical command and control weapon systems.
“Having been here for previous two years, half of them already know me,” she said. “I’m still the same leader, but the dynamic will change now as the commander. But my dedication, my devotion to what they need — they and their families — that will not change.”
Colonel Bonney says she has faith her airmen will serve to the best of their abilities.
“Our airmen are so creative and innovative,” she said. “If we can get them the support, guidance and instruction that they need, they will take this mission to the next level.”
She says Warner Robins is like home, and the support from the community is just reassurance of where she needs to be.
“Having the community support here really enables the airmen and their families to know they’re being taken care of,” she said.
Colonel Bonney says new title is a big responsibility but knows her surrounding team will serve selflessly.
“So, if you have an emergency at home, issues with children in school, needing bases — whether it’s the people in the dorms or out in the community — just having that support at the home front enables them to focus on the mission,” she said. “Because half of their mind isn’t worried about if their family will be okay or who’s taking care of the dog. They can focus on the mission… and that’s priceless.”
