Coffee with a cop and clergy held at Burger King

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  The Bibb County Sheriff’s office is working to address crime by building relationships.

The department held it’s “Coffee With a Cop and Clergy” event Monday morning at Burger king on Gray Highway. Community members could stop to meet local law enforcement and ministry leaders and they could talk about issues over a cup of coffee. Captain Wanda Ammons was in attendance and she spoke on why events like these matter.

“When you’re building relationships, you want to be out, you want to be with the people so being in the community. When you’re out walking the streets and picking up trash that’s a good way to start up a conversation. When you’re sitting down in a restaurant and drinking a cup of coffee that’s a good way to start up a conversation and conversation starts by building up that relationship.” said Ammons

Different members of law enforcement and faith leaders were also in attendance.
