Commissioner warns against kerosene sold at Lucky Lady in Cochran
Georgia agriculture department says product may be contaminated with gasoline; stop-sale issued and pump closed

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Georgia Agriculture Commissioner is warning consumers not to use kerosene purchased from the Lucky Lady at 393-A Georgia Hwy. 26 E, Cochran, GA 31014, citing possible gasoline contamination that could cause a fire or explosion if used in heaters, lamps or other appliances.
“The Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Fuel & Measures Division works every day to ensure the safety and quality of Georgia’s fuel supply and protect Georgia consumers,” Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper said. “Georgians who have purchased kerosene from this location should not use it under any circumstance and can visit the store to get a refund for their purchase.”
Inspectors with the Georgia Department of Agriculture discovered the contaminated product during a routine inspection of the store, the agency said.
The Department’s Fuel & Measures Division has issued a stop-sale order, and the kerosene pump is closed.
Officials said the pump will remain closed until the tank and lines have been cleaned and a new shipment is tested and approved by the department.
