Cochran Downtown Development Authority to host Downtown Day

Ken Land, director of the City of Cochran’s Downtown Development Authority, said the event aims to bring the community together through activities, shopping, and family fun.

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Cochran Downtown Development Authority will host Downtown Day on April 26, an event that’s free and open to the community.

Ken Land, director of the City of Cochran’s Downtown Development Authority, said the event aims to bring the community together through activities, shopping, and family fun.

The day will begin with a community clean-up event from 9 a.m. to noon. Supplies will be provided for volunteers participating in Cochran Clean-up Day. As part of Tire Amnesty Week, community members can bring unrimmed scrap tires to the Public Works Barn Monday through Friday and on Saturday until noon. The Cochran Police Department will also accept unrimmed scrap tires.

Downtown Day activities will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a Kid Zone featuring inflatables and a shared obstacle course for all ages. Access to the Kid Zone will cost $5 per wristband.

A free Touch-A-Truck event will give children the chance to explore police, fire, and other service vehicles up close.

Food trucks—some of Cochran’s local favorites—will be available for attendees to purchase food. Visitors can also enjoy local shopping at downtown boutiques and thrift stores.

Downtown Day will also include an “Art-N-Seek” contest. Participating primary and elementary school students will have the chance to win prizes for their artwork created during art class.
