Coach’s Corner: Southwest Patriots ready to forget back-to-back 3-7 seasons

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Southwest Patriots are coming off of back-to-back 3-7 seasons, which many can see as an improvement over 2013’s 0-10 season. With most of his team coming back for 2016, Joe Dupree hopes his program can finally take the next step.

The Patriots switched regions this year, and will now play in Region 3-AA, along with Bleckley County, Dodge County, Dublin, East Laurens, Northeast, and Washington County.

This is Coach Dupree’s fourth season as head coach.

OFFENSE:

The Patriots will be returning eight starters.

Jordan Slocum will take over for Justin Slocum at quarterback.

Returning players for 2016: SeDeran Scott, Eduardo Green, Ja’Quavious Jones, Noah Howard, Ja’Quavious Solomon, , Markees Burton, Jonterious Singleton, Isaiah Goolsby, and Justin Brown.

DEFENSE:

Southwest will have the benefit of an experienced defense, as nine starters return for Coach Dupree’s crew.

Returning players: B.J. Sharpe, Zaquan Baldwin, Stacy Ivey, Elisha Jones, Jaquez Pennymon.

FIRST GAME: August 26th versus Westside at Ed Defore Stadium.
