Coach’s Corner: Mary Persons Bulldogs are 40-9 combined under coach Brian Nelson
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Mary Persons Bulldogs nearly went undefeated last season, finishing 2015 11-1.
Despite the record, Mary Persons lost in the second round of the playoffs to Marist by a score of 45-21.
The Bulldogs will play in Region 2-4A along with Howard, Perry, Spalding, Upson-Lee, and West Laurens.
This is Brian Nelson’s fifth season as head coach, and has gone a combined 40-9 during his tenure.
OFFENSE:
The Bulldogs scored 28 points-per-game last season.
The quarterback position will be a question mark, but will be returning players Quen Wilson, Zach Harvey, Roger Akins, Jatori Sims, and Caleb Etheridge.
DEFENSE:
Mary Persons gave up 15.9 points-per-game in 2015.
The team will be returning players Malik Herring, Tre Howard, Dan O’Neal, Vic Henderson, and Tay Jarrell on defense.
FIRST GAME: August 18th versus Houston County at Mercer.
