Clouds and a few showers Tuesday afternoon, rain leaves tonight

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – This morning was disgusting, sure, but this afternoon the rain won’t be as prevalent. A slow-moving cold front has brought abundant cloud cover into the area, and most widespread rain fell this morning. What we’re seeing as of this writing are break-ups in the rainfall with mostly light precipitation.

This afternoon, the bulk of the rain will have moved east. I still am forecasting cloudy skies, and isolated showers will still pop up in the area. However, the showers won’t be widespread, and most will be light.

High today will be around 73.

With the rain gone tomorrow, we’ll see a bit more sunshine. Partly to mostly cloudy skies tomorrow morning and afternoon. The high Wednesday will be around 68.

Thursday I’m watching a low pressure system that will be moving into the southeast. It’s possible the rain will stay completely to the south of us, but the models are all over the place, and we simply don’t have a good handle on it at the moment. Therefore, I’ve put a 20 percent chance for rain in the forecast for Thursday and Friday with this new system.

If it does lift north enough to bring us rain, it doesn’t appear that the rain totals will be that high. We dry out completely this weekend with highs in the upper 60s.
