LIST: School closings across Middle Georgia for Friday, January 10

Here is a list of closures across Middle Georgia due to the winter weather.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Due to the potential winter weather moving across Middle Georgia later this week, 41NBC has compiled a list of schools that will be closed on Friday, January 10th, 2025.

Academy for Classical Education (ACE)

  • The Academy for Classical Education has canceled all classes and school activities for Friday, January 10.

 

Baldwin County School District

  • Due to the severe weather conditions predicted, the Baldwin County School District will close schools on Friday, January 10th. This decision was made in the interest of safety due to the National Weather Service’s increased confidence that wintry precipitation will affect the middle Georgia area on Friday, January 10. Friday, January 10, will be a remote learning day. Teachers will communicate with their students regarding instructional expectations. All extracurricular activities have been canceled.

Bibb County School District

  • Based on the latest weather update from the US National Weather Service Peachtree City Georgia, Bibb County School District has made the decision that all BCSD schools and offices will be closed on Friday, January 10, 2025. This decision is based on the current forecast for temperatures below freezing, as well as the potential for freezing rain and ice beginning as early as 4 a.m. All afterschool programs and athletics events are canceled. Classes will resume on Monday, January 13, 2025.

 

Brentwood School

  • Brentwood School will close tomorrow, January 10th, due to the possibility of winter weather.

 

Central Georgia Technical College

  • All Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) campuses and centers will be closed Friday, January 10.

 

Cirrus Academy Charter School

  • Asynchronous Learning Day

 

Crawford County School District

  • Closed Friday, January 10.

 

Dooly County School District

  • Due to the potential for winter weather and unsafe road conditions,  all Dooly County Schools will be closed Friday, January 10.

 

First Presbyterian Day School

  • Due to the potential for winter weather in our area, First Presbyterian Day School (FPD) will be closed on Friday, January 10, 2025. All athletic events, practices, and extra-curricular activities are canceled for Friday, January 10. The Robotics Meet and Middle School Wrestling Tournament scheduled for Saturday, January 11, are also canceled.

 

Georgia Academy for the Blind

  • Due to inclement weather forecasted for Friday, January 10, 2025, Georgia Academy for the Blind will be closed. We will reopen on Monday, January 13, 2025 with our residential students returning to campus on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

 

Georgia Military College 

  • Out of an abundance of caution, Georgia Military College (GMC) will be closed on Friday, January 10, 2025, due to the severe winter weather forecast. This includes Main Campus, Prep School, and all Junior College satellite locations across the state.

 

Hancock County School District

  • Due to the potential winter storm forecast to bring hazardous conditions, including black ice and freezing temperatures throughout the day, we have an Asynchronous work from home day on Friday, January 10, 2025. To prioritize the safety of our students and families, this day will be an Asynchronous Learning Day.

 

John Hancock Academy

  • Due to inclement weather forecasts, tomorrow will be a distance learning day for all JHA students.

 

John Milledge Academy

  • Due to the weather conditions expected for tomorrow, school will be closed on Friday, January 10. GO TROJANS!

 

Johnson County Schools

  • Due to potential inclement weather due to an approaching winter weather storm, Johnson County Schools will have a Virtual Learning Day tomorrow, Friday January 10.

 

Jones County Schools

  • Jones County Schools will be closed Friday, January 10 due to potential winter weather.

Macon County Schools

  • Due to the forecast of possible inclement weather and the expectation of ice accumulation on roadways and bridges, all schools in the Macon County School System will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 10, 2025.

 

Middle Georgia State University

  • To ensure the safety of our campus community members while still being able to serve our student population, MGA offices will be closed on Friday. Faculty and staff will be working remotely and will be able to assist you by phone and email. Essential personnel, including public safety, will be on campus during this time. Face-to-face instruction will be moved to virtual.

 

Monroe County School District

  • Monroe County Schools will be closed for students and staff on Friday, January 10, 2025. Current forecasts predict freezing rain and ice beginning as early as 4 a.m. All extracurricular activities will be canceled for Friday and Saturday. Classes will resume on Monday, January 13, 2025.

 

Mount de Sales Academy

  • Due to impending weather, MDS will be closed tomorrow, January 10. All after-school activities are cancelled for Friday.

 

Oconee Fall Line Technical College

  • OFTC campuses will be closed on Friday, January 10 and will reopen on Monday, January 13.

 

Peach County Schools

  • School and extracurricular activities are canceled for Friday, January 10.

 

 Putnam County Charter School System

  •  Putnam County Charter School System will be closed Friday, January 10 due to potential winter weather.

 

Tattnall Square Academy

  • Tattnall Square Academy will be closed on Friday, January 10.

 

Taylor County Schools

  • The Taylor County School District will be closed Friday, January 10, 2025 due to concerns about the weather and the impact of transporting students safely.
Twiggs County Public Schools
  • Based on information from the National Weather Service, Twiggs County Public Schools will be closed January 10, 2025.
Washington County School District
  • Due to the uncertainty of freezing rain, sleet, wind and road conditions that could lead to transportation hazards, we will shift to an at-home learning model for Friday, January 10. The Board of Education and all schools will be closed on Friday, January 10, 2025. All extra-curricular activities are cancelled for Friday, January 10, through the weekend. In addition, all transportation services are suspended beginning Friday, January 10 until Monday morning. Students will have at home assignments to complete Friday and all teachers will be available via email.

 

Wilkinson County Schools

  • In response to the winter weather advisory, all schools will be closed on Friday, January 10, for students and staff. Learning will continue asynchronously for all teachers and students.

 

Windsor Academy

  • To ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, Windsor Academy will be closed on Friday, January 10, 2025.
