City of Macon Nationally Recognized for Financial Reporting

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A national finance association recognized the City of Macon for how it reports financial information to the public.

The Government Finance Officer’s Association has recognized the city for its Popular Annual Financial Report for FS2012. The PAFR is a user friendly version of the city’s comprehensive annual financial report which highlights major points of the audit using graphs and pictures. The city was also commended for its additional of useful demographic and economic statistics.

Macon Mayor Robert Reichert says the state does not require the city to create a PAFR. He says it makes it easier for the community to know how the city is spending your tax dollars.

“It should be reassurance to the people that their tax dollars are being safeguarded, that they’re being wisely spent and they’re being spent on things that are important to them,” Reichert said.

Copies of the report are available at City Hall.

The City of Macon was also recognized earlier this year for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and its budget presentation.
