City Hall Hosts Prayer Vigil
Sporting a ‘What Would Jesus Do?’ tie, Mayor Chuck Shaheen of Warner Robins wears his faith openly.
He says, “In my office we’ve got a cross with praying hands on it. Thats where I pray. Thats where I get on my knees in city hall and pray.
But today’s prayers, were offered up outside, in front of anyone who wished to attend.
The event was organized by the Jefferson Hills community, and they say they did this because it is what is commanded of them in the Bible.
The mayor spoke openly about his faith, saying he would rather be open about it, and not keep it in to himself.
Dozens of people attended the brief vigil today, including Warner Robins resident Brenda Roberts.
After Mayor Shaheen gave his personal testimony of faith, Roberts broke down crying saying,
“It doesn’t get any better than that. It was wonderful. To hear a man be so bold, in a day where it is always so politically incorrect…it was beautiful.”
Shaheen says he hopes other cities will follow in Warner Robins footsteps and have prayer vigils of their own.
