Citizens’ Group Asks to Delay Braves Stadium Plan

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) – A coalition of Cobb County citizens’ groups are planning to ask that a decision to build a new $672 million stadium for the Atlanta Braves be postponed.

Cobb Citizens for Governmental Transparency are planning to deliver a letter to the Cobb County Board of Commissioners Monday asking that a vote on whether to move forward with a plan to build the new stadium and $400 million entertainment complex be postponed for 60 days.

Organizers say the extra time will give citizens a chance “to become fully informed regarding all aspects of the proposal.”

The commission is slated to consider the deal Tuesday. It calls for $300 million in public funds to be used to help pay for the stadium.
