‘Chords Of Kindness’ The Kody Lucas Fund
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Middle Georgians will have the chance to remember and celebrate the life of Kody Lucas. Lucas, a Perry High School graduate, lost his battle with cancer in April 2012. At the age of 14 he was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma, a very aggressive brain tumor.
Doctors said he had a 20 percent chance to live 2 years. Lucas beat those odds and graduated from high school. Unfortunately, his tumor became active again after graduation.
Lucas’ mother Donna Moss stopped by Daybreak to share what life has been like since he passed on April 10, 2012 and to invite the community to help keep his legacy alive.
Through the Jay’s HOPE Foundation, Lucas’ family has started ‘Chords of Kindness’ The Kody Lucas Fund.
The proceeds will provide support to local families and start a music therapy program in middle Georgia for pediatric oncology patients.
The event, “Melodies and Memories” is Saturday, July 13 at Southern Bridle Farm in Fort Valley. Tickets are $25 and include dinner and music. The event starts at 6P.M.
Lucas enjoyed playing the saxophone and used his musical talents to reach others. To make an online donation, visit www.jayshope.org and follow the named fund tab.
