Cherry Blossom Street Party Goes On Despite Rain Threat

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A threat of rain this weekend didn’t dampen the spirits of Cherry Blossom fans.

The Cherry Blossom Street Party and other weekend events were moved indoors this year due to rain in the forecast, but a decent crowd still turned out Saturday night at the City Auditorium to see 38 Special and the Dirty Guvnahs.

Some in attendance say the crowd wasn’t as big in years’ past, but it was still good to get out and mingle even if the party was inside.

“The weather seems to come in every year, so it’s great that they moved it indoors,” says Will Valentine.  “I think it’d be maybe more fun outside, but it’s better to have it in here than not at all.”

“It’s way cooler outside,” says Pete Kidder.  “We can still have a good time even it’s inside, but really I wish it was outside.”

Two other festival favorites, Mulberry Sreet’s Arts and Crafts and the Food Truck Frenzy were also moved indoors on Saturday.
