Cherry Blossom Festival debuts new events, returning traditions

The 10-day festival will feature activities across the city, including Carolyn Crayton Park and downtown Macon, with amusement rides, live concerts, vendors and family-friendly entertainment.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The 44th International Cherry Blossom Festival will return to Macon from March 20–29, bringing a wide range of events and attractions to the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World.

The 10-day festival will feature activities across the city, including Carolyn Crayton Park and downtown Macon, with amusement rides, live concerts, vendors and family-friendly entertainment.

Popular attractions at the park include circus performances, pig races, a Bengal tiger show and tethered hot air balloon rides, weather permitting. Food vendors will also offer a variety of options, including festival favorites like pickle pizza.

Downtown events include the Cherry Blossom Parade on March 22, as well as the wiener dog race, bed race, Ultimate Air Dogs competition and Food Truck Frenzy.

Community events are also part of the lineup, including the Pink Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Macon-Bibb Fire Department on March 21 and March 28 at Luther Williams Field.

Organizers say the annual festival celebrates Macon’s thousands of blooming cherry trees and draws visitors from across the country each year.
