Charges filed in Byron fatal traffic accident

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Byron police have filed charges against a driver involved in a fatal traffic accident in December.

According to a news release, Brian Keith Lawson Sr. is charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI, 5 counts of endangering a child under 15 while DUI, 5 counts of child restraint violation, open container, failure to maintain a single lane, and serious injury by motor vehicle.

On December 25,  Lawson overturned his SUV while attempting to avoid hitting another vehicle.

During the crash 5 children were ejected from the SUV, 11-year-old Lakevia George was killed in the accident.

A blood test showed that Lawson was DUI at the time.

The case is now in the hands of the Peach County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
