Changes to popular kids attraction coming to Museum of Arts and Sciences
MAS and designers from Haizlip Studio are in the early stages of the planning phase of a major renovation project.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Museum of Arts and Sciences is working on a major renovation to its popular kids attraction, the Discovery House and Mini Zoo.
“The Discovery House is just a favorite place for families because its designed specifically for kids and includes lots of hands on displays and exhibits and of course this is an area that gets a lot of use and so we need to refurbish exhibits frequently and often,” Museum of Arts and Sciences Executive Director Susan Welch said.
Welch says those changes could include putting animal displays in the walls to make more space for tours.
She says they’re still in the early stages of the planning phase and designers from Haizlip Studio are helping the museum staff and Board of Directors bring their vision to life.
“We’re looking at how people will react to the range of experiences in exhibits in the museum, from kids to adults, because the adults have to have as much fun as the kids do,” Haizlip designer Reb Haizlip said. “And then we talk to the staff because they know how the place works and knowing how the place works is critical to what we do.”
Welch says they hope to start the renovation project in 2025.
