Chambliss Looking for Answers Amid Libya Controversy, Confusion
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – a Georgia U.S. Senator is looking for answers amid the confusion concerning the September 11th attacks on a United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
Senator Saxby Chambliss, along with Senators John McCain, Kelly Ayotte and Lindsey Graham are asking intelligence officials to clarify what they knew before the terrorist attacks that killed 4 Americans.
Chambliss told 41NBC earlier today, the Obama administration’s handling of the attack and the way it was explained to the public, shows either gross incompetence or blatant deception.
“People who follow the foreign policy of this administration have to be concerned about the way this investigation and the information coming out of the investigation has gone down,” Chambliss tells 41NBC. “It all boils down to leadership, and is this the kind of leadership that the United States has been used to? I think the answer to that’s pretty obvious–No.”
NBC News reports that on Capitol Hill today, testimony about that tragedy left lawmakers shaking their heads, after a senior State Department official said the level of security staffing in Benghazi was “correct.”
