Chairman of Macon Water Authority Dies
MACON/Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The longtime chairman of the Macon Water Authority has died. Frank Amerson died just after 8 this evening at the Medical Center of Central Georgia from an undisclosed illness. That’s according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
Apparently, Amerson had been in the hospital for a few days. He has been a leader in the Macon community for decades, holding the seat at the water authority since 1976, and he’s the namesake of Macon’s popular Amerson Water Works Park.
Mr. Amerson was 83 years old.
Jones spoke to 41NBC tonight and said- “We have lost another leader in this community. Larry Justice, Tommy Olmstead, and now Frank Amerson. That’s 3 leaders in one year…this community is at loss, and these shoes will never, NEVER be filled.”
