‘Cash Mob’ Event to Benefit Local Restaurant
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A beloved buisness gets a return on their investment after years of financial drought.
The Rotary Club of Downtown Macon held a ‘cash mob’ on Friday, after they heard the news – H&H Restaurant is at risk of closing their doors for good.
“A cash mob is deciding to influx an area with your hard earned cash even if it’s a quick little pop like we’re doing here for lunch,” says organizer Jessica Walden.
Walden says like many people in the area she grew up eating the soul-food at H&H, and felt she had to do something about their financial situation.
“You know we can’t let our local businesses slide,” says Walden.
Tess Harper, a ‘cash mob’ diner, believes rallying together for the benefit of a local business is making the city of Macon a stronger community, and says H&H has a lot of history-specifically to downtown.
More than twenty members of the club, along with their family and friends, dined-in for lunch. Throughout the day, customers came in for to-go orders, and stopped by to support the famous establishment.
The Rotary Club of Macon hopes their movement will influence other organizations bringing business to the historic landmark.
H&H Restaurant is still in need of your help. If you would like more information about how you can lend a hand, you are asked to call 478.742.9810.
