Candidates for State Representative District 145 run off race highlight their platforms before early election begins

The run off election is set for Monday, June 10 and ends Friday, June 14.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Dr. Juawn Jackson is in a run-off for State Representative District 145 against his opponent Tangie Herring. I met with Dr. Jackson at the Pendleton Homes, a Macon project, he grew up in as he knocked on doors and spoke with potential voters.

“All of my life has been in service to Macon-Bibb County. I think the number one issue right now are issues that relate to people’s pocketbooks, to people’s wallets and so it’s very important that we get a handle on inflation because inflation is making a lot of things because more than it would be. And, of course, healthcare costs is one of those things, so many of my neighbors, so many of the people here in Bibb County do not have access to adequate healthcare. And so we’ve got to do more to expand Medicaid in the state of Georgia.” Said, Run off Candidate, Dr. Jackson.

Herring also spoke with me about what she wants to accomplish if she wins the Run off after speaking with one of her neighbors.

“Making sure that we have safe affordable housing and not just safe and affordable housing, those of us who are own our homes, making sure that pass the Olaf’s again which gave us 50% in our property taxes and then also making sure that we provide smart economic development for all of our citizens so that they can thrive in their communities. Work, live and play here and last but not least, which is most important to me, is making sure that we have quality healthcare for all of our citizens,” said Run off Candidate, Tangie Herring.

The run off election for the House District 145 Race is scheduled for June 18.
Early voting begins Monday, June 10, and ends Friday, June 14.
