Candidate Mallory Jones Suing to Move Date of Bibb County Elections

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Candidate for Macon-Bibb County District 4, Mallory Jones, is suing the supervisor of the Bibb County Board of Elections, the board, and the Bibb County Commissioners over the election delay.

In a lawsuit filed in United States District Court today, Jones is asking the court to take over the election process. He wants elections to happen on July 16th, or the next closest date allowed by law. He’s also asking that no new candidates be allowed to qualify.

In a news release from his attorney, Jones said the following:

“I am asking for the voters to trust me as a leader to do the people’s business. This suit is just part of the job. When elections are cancelled, the voters are denied their voice in government. This election is important and the sooner we have it the better.”
