You can now shop for groceries online and have them delivered to you

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Grocery shopping can be a hassle and Instacart wants to help you take one chore off your to do list, by having someone else shop for you.

Daniel Gould is a Senior Operations Manager at Instacart. The company started in 2012 in San Francisco and quickly realized other cities could benefit from their services.

“We chose to come to Macon because we believe that there’s a lot of demand here in Macon. We’re gonna a serve over a 100,000 households,” Gould said.

He said using Instacart is easy. All you have to do it log onto instacart.com or download their app, type in your zip code, make an account, and then choose whether you want groceries from Publix or CVS.

After you make your grocery list, an Instacart employee will shop for you. If there’s an item on your list that’s not available in the store, an employee will give you a text or call and ask you what item would you like instead.

Jessica McDowell is one of those employees. She said grocery shopping is her expertise.

“I’m a family woman myself, so I felt it was kind of like an easier field. I love customer service so I felt it would be wonderful,” McDowell said.

Once you order your groceries they’ll be delivered to your house within an hour, or if you need them delivered at a later time, you can set up an appointment.

Gould said the goal of Instacart is to make your life a little easier.

“We’ll take the entire process and fulfill the entire process for them from shopping to delivering groceries, so it’s really about time saving and saving consumers time,”Gould said. “It saves them an average of two to three hours a week, hours that they’re able to then spend with family, loved ones, friends,” Gould said.
