Campus police respond to violent incident at Southwest High School

According to the Bibb County School District, staff members and campus police intervened to break up an altercation involving three students near the end of the first lunch period.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A parent is raising concerns about student safety after a fight involving three students at Southwest High School in Macon on Monday.

The district notified parents about the incident through ParentSquare on Monday.

In the message, the district described the incident as an isolated incident and said lunch service for the remaining periods quickly resumed, with minimal impact to the school schedule.

41NBC was contacted by a parent with two children who attend Southwest High School. The parent said their children came home concerned about what happened at the school.

The parent also provided 41NBC with a link to a Facebook video that appears to show a fight.

When 41NBC asked the Bibb County School District for more information about the incident, the district did not make anyone available for an interview.

School officials encouraged parents to make sure their contact information is up to date so they can receive notifications through ParentSquare. Parents with questions about the incident were also encouraged to contact Southwest High School directly.

41NBC has submitted an open records request to the Bibb County School District seeking information about how the district responded to the altercation at Southwest High School.

The request specifically seeks information about the district’s response to the incident.
