Byron Lions Club Hosts Annual Turkey Shoot

The best shots squared off Saturday at the Byron Lions Club annual turkey shoot.

The most accurate shooter won a Thanksgiving turkey courtesy of the club.

The shooters took aim at paper plates with targets on them just beside the O’Reilly Autoparts store in a field off of highway 49.

Lee Brown, the president of the club, was glad to see such high participation this year.

“Local enthusiasts have the opportunity to bring their own gun or use one of our guns to shoot on the range and see if they can win a turkey by being the closest to the center of the plate,” said Brown. “And we have them shoot in rounds of 12, so they’re shooting against other competition.”

The Lions Club donates any money they bring in through club sponsored events to multiple charities each year, including the Lighthouse in Atlanta.
