Button Fastest In 2nd Practice At Turkish GP

ISTANBUL – Jenson Button capitalized on improved conditions to post the fastest time in Friday’s second practice for the Turkish Grand Prix, and McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton was third quickest.

Rain made the Istanbul Park circuit slippery in the morning, causing Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel to crash. He was unhurt but didn’t start the second practice as his car was too damaged and Red Bull decided not to run in a patched-up car, preferring wait until Saturday.

Temperatures improved slightly and the track dried in the afternoon, when Germany’s Nico Rosberg matched his impressive morning with the second quickest time.

Button, the 2009 F1 champion, completed 26 laps and set a best time of 1 minute, 26.456 seconds.

Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher and Mark Webber completed the top five.
