Butler Police Chief Removed from Position

BUTLER, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Protestors were outside of City Hall Wednesday in Butler,
angry over a City Council decision to fire Police Chief, Mike Peacock.

41NBC spoke with Butler’s Mayor Pro Tem Barry Whitley, who said Peacock was pushed out because of “performance issues,” but he would not comment further.

Peacock served 20 years as Chief of Police, according to Whitley.

Assistant Police Chief Jimmy Towns will serve in his position until further notice.
