Business Leaders Invited to Kickoff Session of “I Am Macon”
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Today, local business leaders were reminded of why they love the city of Macon, and how they should pass that feeling on the visitors.
They were invited in the first session of “I am Macon.” It’s a three hour program featuring a specialized tour of the city, followed by an interactive lesson on how to make sure visitors in Macon check out the best attractions, and really feel the “southern hospitality.”
“Number one it helps you to remember what you forgot about your community, and then it also reminds of the common sense things that we sometimes get distracted by in our efforts to do so many activities and do so much multi-tasking,” says Monica Smith, President and CEO of the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Main Street Macon’s Mechel McKinley participated in, and helped plan the program.
“Think this program gives our front line staff to think about that when somebody says ‘what should I do in Macon?’ and it just gives them a more conscious thought process ‘oh yea, we have all these great things to do here,” says McKinley.
Restaurant and hotel owners, police and firefighters, and anyone else who’s interested is invited to get on board and take in their city. For more information on the program, click here.
