Burglar breaks into Macon home twice, forgets wallet

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a thief who broke into a home in Macon not once, but twice.

“The only thing gone was a leaf blower and I have tons of stuff in this garage,” Parrish Mitchell, the burglary victim, laughed.

Funny now, but unsettling at first.

“My wife went to let the dogs out this morning and noticed that our gate to the backyard was open so she couldn’t let the dogs out so she had to go close that and she noticed the garage side door was open,” Mitchell said.

He says when he woke up Wednesday morning, the last thing he expected was for his garage to be broken into. A thief got in and stole a leaf blower — nothing else.

Mitchell called 911 for help and while doing so, he found a piece of evidence.

The crook dropped a wallet.

“You live in downtown. It was nothing not to be expected. These things kind of happen,” Mitchell mentioned.

He turned in the wallet to deputies with a person named Benjamin Patterson Jr.’s driver’s license inside.

Here’s what Mitchell didn’t expect, as deputies left his home taking down information in the process, the burglar came back.

“Some time after my wife went to work and I went to go get dressed and I came back out to leave for the day, and someone had kicked in the door, I assume, looking for their I.D.,” Mitchell said.

Now faced with a damaged door, Mitchell, who’s all smiles now, is frustrated about the thief who seemed to have come back.

He jokes his “guard dog” was asleep, but adds he’ll be more careful about keeping doors locked and his eyes and ears open for suspicious activity in his neighborhood.

“It’s a blower. I’m probably going to get it back, unless he sells it to a buddy or something. It’s the kicking the door — now I’ve got to fix the door,” Mitchell said.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case. If you have any information, call deputies at (478) 751-7500.
