Bulldogs Nip Bears in a Close Game

The big boys came to town as the Mercer Bears hosted the Georgia Bulldogs at the UniversityCenter.

A sold out crowd was on hand at the UniversityCenter to support the Bears.

Early in the first half, Brian Mills finds point guard Langston Hall on the cut for the easy two. The dogs countered with their inside presence and jumped out to a ten point lead.

Later on, the bulldogs Trey Thompkins drove the lane put up the shot it was no good, but guard Travis Leslie swoops in and cleans up the mess with the two handed jam. Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie both finished with 20 points for the dogs.

The Bears played toe to toe with the dogs throughout the game and after a pair of perimeter shots from Brandon Moore and Mark Hall, the Bulldog lead dwindled down. Mercer actually took the lead and led by 7 at the half.

The Bears lead the entire second half until the very end when Georgia took a 3 point lead after a layup by power forward Jeremy Price.

Mercer couldn’t convert on a last second play and Georgia went on to win 56 to 53 in a close one.

The Bears leading scorer was senior forward Brian Mills who finished with 21.
