Buc-ee’s construction continues as officials mark groundbreaking in Monroe County
President of Buc-ee’s Arch Aplin, he says he’s bringing in the 4th Buc-ee’s in Georgia, due to the traffic interstate 75 brings to the Monroe County area.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Monroe County leaders held a ceremonial groundbreaking Tuesday for a new Buc-ee’s location, even as work on the site has already been underway for several months.
The new Buc-ee’s will be located at 1080 Rumble Road near Interstate 75, becoming the fourth location in Georgia and second in our viewing area. There’s also one in Warner Robins.
According to company officials, the travel center will span about 74,000 square feet and include 100 fueling positions. It is expected to bring at least 200 full-time jobs to the area.
Buc-ee’s President Arch Aplin said the location was chosen because of the heavy traffic along Interstate 75.
“The great thing it does for a community is; if we do our jobs right, we’ll stop the traveling public on Interstate 75, and we’ll have them stop here in Monroe County and spend their dollars here in this county,” Aplin said. “And so, that’s a big deal. It’s a big boost from the tax base, from the community as well as, the great paying jobs.”
Aplin says the location fits into Buc-ee’s strategy of spacing stores along high-traffic corridors.
“Interstate 75 North and South carries a lot of people and goes a long way; so, we’re finding that we can space our stores apart depending on the many moving parts, but we feel like the spacing was sufficient enough to have another store here on Interstate 75 in Monroe County,” he said.
Monroe County Development Authority President Joyce White said the project is expected to boost the local economy.
“I think it will build our community to be an even more stronger community,” she said. “Because your tax revenue that’s coming in, people they will basically be jumping off I-75; 92 to 94 percent of the customer traffic that comes into a Buc-ee’s, comes straight off I-75. So, they spend their dollars here and they have a great experience, then they leave. So, that tax revenue is going to help.”
Officials say construction is expected to take a little more than a year before the store opens.
