BS Report: Is Matt Back?
So tonight at 8:00 it’ll be the Falcons and the Rams. The Falcons are six and nine. The Rams are 11 four. So we know what should happen. But of course it’s the NFL. And you never know. Rams are a much better football team than Atlanta. Atlanta has been playing a little bit better as of late. Truthfully this game is almost overshadowed by the news that broke on Sunday that Jay Glazer of Fox Sports broke that Matt Ryan, the former quarterback, could be rejoining the organization in a front office capacity.
Now, this is very interesting on several levels because, number one, you wonder at what level of of power would Matt Ryan be able to have? Would he be able to report directly to Arthur Blank, or would he have someone Rich McKay in the middle? So, you know, overall, I think this is a positive in that we’ve seen other former players go back to their teams and do well as executives because they know a little bit about football, right?
John Elway did it. Chris Spillman with Detroit. We’ve seen that happen before. So I’m all in favor of this with conditions. Condition number one, rich McKay has got to go. He’s been there for 22 years. They are a failed organization under the ownership of Arthur Blank and Rich McKay has been the linchpin with everything. With all the GM’s and all the head coaches.
There’s been one president, and it’s been rich. McKay. Why is he still there? Why in the world is Arthur Blank continue to have Rich McKay is one of his trusted advisors. It makes zero sense. And if Matt Ryan comes on board as a GM or president of football operations or whatever title he may have, he must demand that Rich McKay is not involved and has no say so whatsoever in this organization, and that he does not have to report to Rich McKay.
If he doesn’t do that, it’s a waste of time. It really is. And if Matt Ryan comes in, he needs to make the decision on whether Terry Font remains in the organization in any capacity and whether Raheem Morris stays as head coach. And he shouldn’t. Both of those guys, font No. And Morris should go. They have failed at their jobs.
Fontenot for five years. Morris for two years. But I think we’ve seen enough in two years to know. Along with his previous track record as a head coach, the NFL, that Rahim Marsh is not a good coach, at least as a head coach in the National Football League. So what happens tonight? Well, you know, who knows? I mean, it’s so hard to predict anything with this Falcons team. They could come out and play hard and play well and give Los Angeles a little bit of a push. But I think the Rams here in the playoff push are themselves trying to lock down their playoff spot and needing that, playoff position are going to be in a more, fighting mood, if you will, to try to win this game.
And I just think they’re the better team. I’d be shocked if the Falcons won this game. And I think the Rams are going to do, what they’ve done all year long, which is play pretty good football. And you know Sean McVay is going to want to come back home as the Rams head coach to his hometown of Atlanta and do well as the head coach. And I’m sure Matthew Stafford who has a tie of course this state as well would love to do well in that building. So don’t expect much tonight. But let’s keep an eye on what happens with Matt Ryan and the potential for him to join the organization in some capacity as we move into the offseason. Just about ten days from now.
